An introduction to Flavour Ingredients
Kanegrade supplies a wide range of natural flavour ingredients, sourced from around the world, enabling flavourists to create formulations with long-lasting and naturally complex aroma profiles. Our intrepid sourcing over many decades has taken us to the four corners of the globe to enable us to offer a range of ingredients suited to flavour development.
Our materials have become crucial ingredients in many formulations and we strive to ensure stable pricing and consistent availability which has meant our raw material service is highly popular with both large and small flavour houses.
Product Portfolio
Our flavour ingredients encompass a broad selection of flavouring preparations, and include:
Essential Oils (Cold Pressed or Steam Distilled)
Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts obtained through cold pressing or steam distillation. Cold pressing, used mainly for citrus fruits like orange and lemon, involves mechanically pressing the fruit peel to release fragrant oils without heat, preserving their fresh aroma and beneficial compounds. Steam distillation, the most common method, passes steam through plant material (such as lavender or rosemary), causing the aromatic compounds to evaporate; these are then condensed and separated from water to yield pure essential oil.
Our offered range includes many hundreds of oils including:
Citrus fruits – Orange, Lime, Lemon, Mandarin, Bergamot and Folded options.
Herbs – Basil, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Oregano, Spearmint/Peppermint, Lavender and many others.
Spices – Cinnamon (Bark or Leaf), Clove, Ginger, Cardamom, Nutmeg, Black Pepper, Anise, Star Anise, Coriander and many others.
Flowers – Lavender, Chamomile, Jasmine and many others.
Please enquire for more details of the many oils we offer.
Extracts and Oleoresins
Extracts and oleoresins are concentrated plant products that capture the full flavour, aroma, and active compounds of herbs and spices. Extracts are typically produced by soaking plant material in solvents like alcohol or water, to create highly concentrated ingredients. Oleoresins are thick, aromatic blends of essential oils as well as the resins of the source materials, which are retained from the solvent extraction process. They deliver the complete sensory profile of the original material.
Our offered range includes many types of Extracts and Oleoresins, including:
Extracts – Vanilla (Madagascan, Indonesian, Single/2X/5X/10X/32X), Coffee, Tea, Angelica Root, St Johns Bread / Carob Bean, Chicory, Cocoa Shell, Kola Nut, Gentian Root. Many others.
Oleoresins – Pepper (Black/White), Paprika, Chilli, Turmeric, Ginger, Clove Bud. Many others.
Please enquire for more details of the Extracts and Oleoresins we offer.
Aromas / Distillates / Esters
These are valuable products captured during fruit juice concentration processes, where volatile aromatic compounds are recovered that would otherwise be lost when water is removed from fresh fruit juices. These highly refined and many-folded ingredients contain pure, volatile aromatic compounds making them ideal for developments requiring highly concentrated fruit content such as FTNF (From the Named Fruit) flavourings. They are also known as distillates, or sometimes as fruit esters.
Our offered range includes many types of Aromas, including:
Peach, Apple, Pear, Plum, Sour Cherry, Sweet Cherry, Strawberry, Banana, Mango, Passionfruit, and Pineapple.
Please note availability of Aromas varies throughout the year, please contact for more details.

They are designed for stability in flavourings, however this may vary under various processing conditions, such as heat, acidity, and storage so samples should always be approved before purchase. - Formats and Solubility:
Available variously as water-soluble or oil-soluble liquids, occasionally powders but also highly viscous solid extracts and also resinous oleoresins. Please enquire as solubility may depend on your flavouring and we will assist. - Shelf Life and Storage:
Flavour ingredients are shelf-stable when stored in sealed containers away from heat, light, and strong odours. Proper storage preserves potency and ensures consistent product quality throughout their shelf life.
Due to the highly varied cost and use of the various flavour ingredients, pack sizes can vary from 1Kg for higher priced oils, up to 200Kg drums for certain aromas. Please enquire to ensure your required pack size/format is possible.
